Consultations & Reviews

UDL undertakes consultations and reviews.

As these happen, they will be documented on this page. This page records the outcome of completed consultations on changes to Utilities Disputes (previously EGCC) Scheme rules.

1. Broadband Shared Property Access Scheme Review

The UDL Board has agreed with the findings of the independent review and is pleased the review concluded the BSPAD Scheme is operating effectively and has demonstrably met its purpose of enabling fibre connectivity throughout New Zealand. The review was complimentary of the nature and extent of UDL’s in-house reviews, commented favourably on how the scheme is funded and the support it provides to complainants and providers. In response to the recommendations of the review UDL has:

·         - strengthened its final letters to make it clear its determinations are legally binding

-         - introduced a general unprompted awareness principle for all schemes.

You can view the Report here.

2. Five Year Independent Review

Clause 15 of Schedule 4 of the Electricity Industry Act 2010 requires UDL to review the complaints scheme for electricity and gas providers every five years.  This review was carried out by Professor Ron Paterson, ONZM.
