About us

Welcome to UDL.

We have been resolving consumer complaints between electricity providers and their customers since 2001. Since then, its jurisdiction has expanded to include gas providers and their customers consumers as well as disputes about the installation of broadband on shared property as part of the nationwide fibre rollout. In the past few years, it has also expanded its services to include voluntary water complaints and telecommunications complaints schemes.

UDL is overseen by an independent five-person board that is chaired by Deborah Hart. It has around 30 full time equivalent staff, who are committed to helping consumers and providers resolve their issues in a timely and effective way.

We listen, ask the right questions and we don’t take sides.

Scam warnings
Stay aware and protect yourselfUtilities Disputes Ltd (UDL) is aware of a number of potential scams including:

An imposter scam – this is where you receive a call from a scammer who pretends they are calling from a genuine and trusted company. In this case it’s the price comparison service, Glimp. It could also be someone pretending to be UDL or your power company. The scammer will ask you to send them money as payment towards your power bill – however they have no association with Glimp, your power company, or UDL and your money will be stolen.

A phishing scam – this is where scammers use a variety of different methods including emails and websites to lure you into providing personal information, contact details, money, login details or passwords in return for a discount on your internet or energy bill. The information will then be used to gain fraudulent access to your accounts.…
